Garter Hug

This is the perfect project for those times when you have some special yarn and just want it to hug you. Simple and meditative knitting at its finest.

Materials

  • Finished Measurements: 62” wide from tip to tip, 14.5” deep at center back. The shawl pictured was lightly blocked.
  • Yarn: approximately 400 yards lace- or fingering-weight yarn. I used a no-longer-available cashmere yarn.
  • Needles: US4/3.5mm circular needle for small-circumference knitting, or size needed to get gauge.
  • Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle.
  • Gauge: 22 sts = 4”/10 cm in garter stitch, measured after blocking.
